Recruiting Process

  1. Opportunities are posted
    All currently-open employment opportunities are posted on our InfinityHR system. External opportunities are also posted on employment websites such as Michigan Talent Pure Connect, Michigan Works, as well as with applicable colleges and universities.
     
  2. Candidate submits a resume or application
    Interested candidates may apply by submitting an application for the applicable position (s) via the InfinityHR system. Applicants must apply separately for each position they wish to be considered for, however, InfinityHR will retain information from the previous application.
     
  3. Resumes and Applications are reviewed
    The hiring manager reviews the resumes and applications against the required qualifications for the position. If interested in an application, the hiring manager or another company representative will contact the applicant directly. Hiring managers will only have access to a resume or application if a candidate applied specifically for a position within their department.
     
  4. Candidates are phone-screened (some positions)
    If the qualifications match the requirements of the open position, a phone screen is conducted by the hiring manager or another company representative to convey more specific information about MRC and the position, including work environment, pay range, benefits, hours, etc. The applicants will be asked for more specific information about their experience, knowledge, and abilities. The hiring manager will determine which candidates will be invited for an on-site interview.
     
  5. On-site interviews are scheduled
    When an on-site interview is scheduled, candidates will come to the appropriate location for a team interview. Each candidate for the position is asked the same set of questions. The questions will cover the candidate’s qualifications relevant to job duties including competencies, education and experience and values. In many cases, a second on-site interview will take place.
     
  6. Facility Tour (some positions)
    A tour of the facility/program for which the applicant is interviewing will typically take place at the first interview, if applicable. For positions with a large candidate pool, a facility tour will take place at the second interview.
     
  7. References are checked
    The hiring manager or another company representative will check employment references prior to an offer of employment. References will generally take place after the first interview unless otherwise indicated during the interview process.
     
  8. Candidate selection is made
    A decision for hire will be made by the hiring manager in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources and Community Relations. After review by the human resources department, The CEO will approve all candidates for hire by reviewing and signing off on the applicant’s recommendation for hire packet.
     
  9. Conditional employment offer of employment is extended
    The Director of Human Resources and Community Relations will contact the candidate with a verbal offer of employment. The candidate will meet with the Director of Human Resources and Community Relations or another representative of the human resources department within 24 hours to complete pre-employment activities.
     
  10. Pre-employment activities are completed
    The Director of Human Resources and Community Relations or a representative of the human resources department will conduct a background check, driver’s record check, and drug screen at the MRC Industries main office. Results will be returned within 72 hours and a formal job offer can then be extended.
     
  11. New employee paperwork completed
    The Director of Human Resources and Community Relations or a representative of the human resources department will schedule the employee’s start date and new hire orientation. A formal offer letter will be provided at the time of orientation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Q: May I apply for more than one position with MRC at one time?
A: Yes. You may apply for any position that interests you and for which you are qualified as long as it is within the posted time period for applying. Please submit a resume or application via InfinityHR for each position for which you are applying. Information will be populated from your prior application.

Q: How long will it be before I get contacted by someone after I apply?
A: There is not a set time for a response. As mentioned above, after you submit your resume or application, the hiring manager will review your submittal. If the hiring manager is interested in learning more about your background they will contact you.

Q: Will MRC contact me even if I do not get contacted for an interview?
A: Yes. MRC appreciates all applicants’ time and interest in responding to employment postings. MRC attempts to contact all applicants by email to inform them that the position has been filled.

Q: Will my resume or application remain active after the position has been filled?
A: Unfortunately, no. Due to our regulatory reporting structure, your resume or application will only be considered for the particular position(s) in the time period for which you applied. You may, however, apply via InfinityHR each time you see a posting in which you are interested. InfinityHR will save information from previous applications.

Q: What are MRC Industries’ definitions of full time/part time/on-call?
A: At MRC Industries, full time employment is considered to be 30 hours or more of regularly scheduled hours per week; part time employment is considered to be 20–29 hours of regularly scheduled hours per week; and on-call employment is considered less than 20 hours per week with no set scheduled hours.

Q: What traits do you look for in a candidate for future employment with MRC Industries?
A: In addition to meeting the required minimum qualifications and the ability to perform the essential functions of the position, we look for applicants who are dedicated to providing excellent services to people.
